WHAT IS AN ORIENTATION COURSE?


It is a six (6) hour course that all new applicants to Litchfield County Board of REALTORS are required to take before being approved for REALTOR membership.  The Orientation Course consists of two parts one is a sit-down course held at the Board office and the second is an online Code of Ethics course.

DO I NEED TO ATTEND THIS ORIENTATION COURSE?

YES, If you are a new applicant and have never been a member of the Litchfield County Board of REALTORSNO, If you are a current member in good standing of another Board/Association and have completed that Board/Association's new member orientation program.  Written notice from that Board/Association must be received.

HOW DOES IT BENEFIT ME?

It fulfills Board membership requirements. It educates you on the Litchfield County Board of REALTORS membership benefits, facilities, services and the Code of Ethics. 

WHEN DO I NEED TO TAKE THIS ORIENTATION COURSE?

The sit-down portion of the Orientation course is offered at least four (4) times per year and the online Code of Ethics portion is available online 24/7.  As a  Litchfield County Board applicant you have nine (9) months to attend one (1) of the sit-down portions of the course and to complete the online Code of Ethics course, if after nine (9) months you still have not completed both the sit-down course and the online Code of Ethics course, your membership application will be terminated at the discretion of the Board of Directors. To reactivate your applicant status you must reapply. 

WHEN WILL I KNOW WHEN THE ORIENTATION COURSE IS BEING OFFERED?

Upon application, the date of the next Orientation course is noticed to the applicant.  After that, notices are sent to all applicants needing the Orientation approximately one (1) week before the sit-down course portion of the program as a reminder. This notice informs you of the date and time that the course will take place.  Dates & times are also posted on the calendar page of our web site as well as the MLS bulletin board.  

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE SIT-DOWN PORTION OF THE ORIENTATION COURSE?

Once applicable dues/fees are received by the Board office, you are automatically added to the list of Orientation attendees.  Reminders will be sent via email during the week preceding the course and periodically to remind you about the online Code Ethics course.

HOW DO I ACCESS THE ONLINE NEW MEMBER CODE OF ETHICS ORIENTATION?

The New Member Code of Ethics course is completed online through the National Association of REALTORS website.  For more information and to access the course, click here.  If you are a new REALTOR member please complete the New Member Code of Ethics course.
