2015 COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS

AD-HOC BUILDING:           Each member shall serve until the AD-HOC committee has completed its objective.

AWARDS: Selects one candidate from among the REALTOR® members as the REALTOR® of the Year and the Scholarship Recipient. The Committee may recognize outstanding members for other awards as the Committee deems appropriate. All responsibility for awards for the above and the actual presentation at the meeting are done by this committee. The committee shall be composed of at least three members, including the Chairperson.  One member shall be a past REALTOR® of the Year of Litchfield County Board of REALTORS®, Inc.

BUDGET: Prepares the annual budgets for the ensuing fiscal year.  The committee meets in July and presents the completed proposed budget to the Board of Directors at their September meeting.  The committee is composed of eight members, including the current Treasurer, President-Elect, immediate past Treasurer, two Directors of LCBR, the immediate Past President, and two members not on the Board of Directors. Each current, past officer, and Director, shall serve as their term dictates.  The other two members shall serve two (2) year terms.   

EDUCATION: Educates the membership and the general public on the responsibilities and benefits of REALTORS® and proposes educational seminars for the membership.  The committee is composed of at least five members, each serving staggered two-year terms. 

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY IN HOUSING: Works in conjunction with federal, state and local governments to educate the membership and/or general public as to Fair Housing laws, encourages REALTORS® to pledge to offer equal professional service and opportunity to all.  The committee is composed of at least five members, each serving a two-year staggered term. 

FINANCE REVIEW: Reviews all items of the Treasury annually in July for the first half year and again in March for the last half year. The committee is composed of three members.  Each member serves a three-year staggered term. 

GRIEVANCE: Functions similarly to a “Grand Jury” of the judicial system.  It prevents abuse and harassment through frivolous complaints. The committee examines all complaints referred, and determines if the complaint has sufficient substance and merit to warrant an Ethics or Arbitration Hearing. The committee is composed of at least twelve members, each serving a four-year staggered term. Members of the Board of Directors of Litchfield County Board of REALTORS®, Inc. may not serve on this committee.  

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Review, research and recommend to the Board of Directors  of Litchfield County Board of REALTORS®, Inc., technological equipment necessary to perform the day to day operations of the Board. The committee is composed of at least five members, each serving a two-year staggered term. 

LEGISLATIVE/RPAC: Educates members to political awareness, establishes contacts with local and State Senators and Representatives and National Senators and Representatives, and encourages contributions from members to support State and National RPAC policies.  Contacts Senators and Representatives when issues arise in legislation that affects the industry. The committee is composed of at least six members, each serving a two-year staggered term. 

MEDIATION: Assist in resolving business/arbitrable matters between agreeable members and enforces the Code of Ethics. The committee is composed of at least two Mediation Officers, each serving a two-year term. 

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS: Enforces the Code of Ethics. The committee is composed of at least twelve members, each serving four-year staggered terms. Members of the Board of Directors of Litchfield County Board of REALTORS®, Inc. may not serve on this committee.  

PUBLIC RELATIONS: Promotes and encourages the development of community service programs, challenges REALTORS® to provide leadership and disciplined example in upgrading the quality of life, sponsors yearly programs as suggested by the State Association and Board and develops realistic programs and projects to reinforce public awareness and respect for REALTORS®.  The committee is composed of at least ten members, each serving a two-year staggered term. 

STRATEGIC PLANNING: It is the purpose of the Strategic Planning Committee to review the Strategic Plan of Litchfield County Board of REALTORS®, Inc. to ensure that its objectives are still valid, and makes suggested changes where appropriate. Continues to review the real estate industry environment, analyzing trends, member expectations and other available data and makes such recommendations to the Board of Directors. The Committee shall be composed of at least six (6) members as follows: the Current President; President-Elect; Immediate Past President; One Director Member; the Executive Officer and Board Legal Counsel.  Additional members from the general membership of the Board are welcomed. Each current, Officer, past officer, and Director, shall serve as their term dictates.  Any other general members shall serve two (2) year terms.

TELEPHONE: Promotes attendance at General Membership meetings or educational functions sponsored by the Board or any of its committees.  The committee is composed of at least five members, each serving two-year terms.
